Leap of Faith

Trusting God is a lifelong journey. Don’t travel alone.

Pink Sugar

A Devotional Moment

Deuteronomy 1:6 When we were at Mount Sinai, the LORD our God said to us, 'You have stayed at this mountain long enough’.

We often dread hearing these words from the Lord. Though they should be exciting, it can be scary facing the unknown.

The Lord has impressed upon your heart to break camp and move forward, be obedient. Some of us claim this direction for ourselves, but we are still in the same place.

Through prayer, determine which step the Lord wants for you. Be it small or a big, one thing is for sure, you will have to take a step to get what he has for you. Sometimes, it is not a what, it is a where.

Deuteronomy 1:8 Look, I am giving all this land to you! Go in and occupy it, for it is the land the LORD swore to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to all their descendants.'

THE ROOT

         A Study of the Word

                                                 “Accountability: Stop Blaming God”

Psalm 32:5 Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, "I will confess my rebellion to the LORD." And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Interlude

What would happen if we simply spoke these words to our Lord. Confessing our sins- acknowledging the wrong we have done?

Not making excuses for any of it in an effort to make it sound trivial, a lie, or to appear innocent, pretending  we were trying to do a good thing, while we know in our spirit we are guilty of wrongdoing.

I am not talking about confessing to a friend or priest. I speak of confessing your wrong doing to the Lord Jesus, God in the flesh who died for every sin.

What would happen if we hand these sins up to him; confessing to them, and ask the Lord to forgive us for all of them.

Here is what will happen:

The Lord knows our heart. He knows if we are sincere.

If we are honest and sincere he will wash us clean. Forgive our sins and dwell within our spirit. He is the redeemer of our souls.

1John 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

In 1John 3.22 we learn that our prayers are answered because we are obedient to the Lord’s commandments.

When we strive for living right, it pleases God. This includes obedience to his commandments.

When we ask the Lord to give us something or help us, we learn in Mark 9:23 that anything and all things are possible in we believe in the Lord to do it.

Can the Lord answer our prayers, though we aren’t doing everything the right way in his sight? He can indeed. No one knows the mind of God like he knows us. He can do whatever he wants to do. However, he tells us how we are to live as a child of God.

This message is not about prayer. It is about self righteous individuals who wallow in sin. Not giving a second thought to God until all hell breaks loose in their lives and the lives of their loved ones.

It is about the refusal of accountability of our actions and how those actions lead us into the gutter.

He isn’t going to watch us willfully do wrong and wicked things ongoing and bless us while we do them. The Lord will see our wrong doing and place people and situations in our path to bring  sense to us in an effort to deter our actions.

This is the time, the opportunity to repent of our wrong doing and ask him to forgive us.  But out of pride and arrogance we usually ignore his warning signs and continue on. When disaster strikes we call out for help. Become resentful and angry when he does not answer.

Bad things happen to family members and we automatically blame God and throw the accusations; “I thought he was a loving God?” “Why wouldn’t he save my child from dying?”

The “whys” continue. We no longer want to serve God, claim him as our Lord.  No one takes the time to think about why the tragedy happened.

The son, daughter, brother who passed away, was it there time? Did they believe in God, serve him? Did he send someone to talk with them? Did they reject his message?

How many times has God spoken to you through someone else and you knew what they said was from God m, how else would they know? But you refused to listen.

How many times have we accused God of not being faithful and loving, but deep down we knew our faults.

We knew what we did and what we continued to do, but we want to be told it isn’t our fault. We want people to make excuses with us about our actions, our mis behavior.

But having someone co-sign our bad behavior is not the answer. It is not going to make things right in the sight of God.

I personally, have had someone throwing their accusations against God to me. I have heard, why did God let my brother die?

There are a lot of things surrounding that question.  And while we search for the answer, please keep in mind that God is God. Nothing and no one else is him.

My answer is, ask God. I am serious.

There are a lot of things surrounding the situation; did the person know God, were they faithful to him, were they rebellious, was it their time? Did God reach out to the person and they refused to listen…. The “why” can go on for years.

Only God knows the “why”.

Someone who is known as a “back sliding” minister because this individual is no longer serving in ministry.

Said to me, “I thought God was a loving God”. This individual said they will not hear anything the Lord has to say. They are done with God.

This person is looking at all that has happened in their lives that has been bad. While they currently live for their flesh in fornication. But question why they are going through bad times.

Is life complicated? Yes, this is a situation where bad things have happened between two people with children involved. This individual is angry with God, living how they want, which is in opposition to God’s word.

Admits to not wanting anything to do with God, but questions the love of God and in their arrogance expects God to be at their beck and call as they actively sin in his face.

It is very dangerous to mock God. Their soul is literally tottering back and forth on a ledge that has a crack in it.

We will not understand every bad, or negative thing that happens in our lives. But in truth, if we are willing to look at our soul de if things, we will see where we faltered, wrongs we have done. And if we go to the Lord in prayer, we will get our answers.

God will give mercy more times than we deserve. It is the mercy itself that is unmerited favor from God. Favor he gives that we do not deserve.

He does answer prayer, he will answer prayer. But don’t think you can continue in sin and wickedness while you are expecting God to intervene.

Come out from among them. Walk away from the stench of sin and call out to God. But don’t pridefully walk in sin with a rebellious attitude toward God then get mad at him because something bad happens to you and yours.

If anyone wants to believe in the power of prayer give attention to

Mark 9:24

And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

Be honest enough to admit there is a form of disbelief in you, if you are struggling with faith. If you are going to doubt, you defeat your purpose in prayer.

We have learned from these two scriptures that the Lord will answer prayer because we are faithful to follow his command. And he will answer if we believe all things are possible to us who believe.

The condition of our heart determines where we are on this journey called life.

We like hearing that all we have to do is ask the Lord for what we want. And if we believe. We will receive.  It becomes a problem with us, when the word of God says,

“….because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. “

We don’t want to be “held” responsible to follow his commandments. Or to do any of other things stated in his word that holds us accountable to the Lord.

Psalms 4:3  But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.

Because we have a relationship with the Lord, he will hear when we call. However, few are interested in a relationship with God. Building a relationship with the Lord, trusting him, following his commands and living for him, doing what is right in his sight. This makes us one of his.

How can anyone have a relationship with the Lord who avoids him?

How can prayers get answered when we doubt God’s ability?

If we choose to live in opposition to the Lord’s commands, why continue to breaks his laws while we expect him to answer our prayers?

I said this message wasn’t about prayer, but is about accountability. If you are wondering why I continue to make reference to prayer. It is because that is what we do.

We become angry at God because things go very wrong in our lives and the lives of loved ones, and we expect God to instantly change things in our favor and not allow anything bad or deadly to happen.

The Lord gives us free will. We have his word to teach us. He comes to us in various ways to steer us in the right direction.

He will convict our spirit of wrong doing. In truth, we do know the wrong we do. We may never admit it. But God knows and we do too.

If we continue to do things our way and refuse the Lord. It is our choice and we should leave him out of it when bad things occur in our lives because we have chosen to leave him out of the choices we have made.

However, for those who are beaten down tired and need God, and desire to have him in your life. He is here right now and ready to listen.

Psalm 50:15 Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.

Please pray with me;

Father God, hear my prayer as I stand in your presence. I humbly come asking for forgiveness of all of my sins.

You have seen all and you k in my every sin. I acknowledge all of them right now in your presence. I choose to live my life with you and for you.

Lord, you said in Isaiah 43:25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

A Pouring Out of Living Water

John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst;

but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Living water is the eternal flow of God's spirit. He says he is the fountain of living water in

Jeremiah 2:13 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Jeremiah 17:13 O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters.

John 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

Thirst: a sensation of dryness in the mouth and throat caused by need of liquid. The physical condition resulting from this need, strong or eager desire; craving: That strong, eager desire can occur in the physical for need of liquid to quench our thirst. It is also a spiritual need that needs quenching in our spirit.Drink: take in liquid, consume Receive the spirit of God, he is the source, fountain of eternal life-living water.

John 4:10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

Revelation 21:6 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.Water: Water is Liquid, transparent in color, odorless and makes up lakes, rivers, oceans. Consider the movement of water- it flows, it can flow gently or in the movement of waves.

The focus is not the liquid, but the movement of the liquid water- it can flow gently or in movement of waves. It’s the movement.

Described as the flow or movement of waves, the flow of the spirit of God within you is felt physically in the body as your spirit is filled up with him.

Revelation 22:17 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. Drink: take in liquid, consume.Receive the spirit of God, he is the source, fountain of eternal life-living water

John 4:10  Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

Revelation 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

This living water comes from God. He is the source, the fountain, It is for you, me, and anyone who desires to have him in our lives. when you invite him in your heart and life, he will come.He makes it available because it is his desire that no one perish. As it states in John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Invitation to meet Christ our Lord

For anyone reading this who has not asked the Lord Jesus into your heart

This is your opportunity. Ask him into your heart and life, confess your sins to him, ask his forgiveness. Make every effort from this day forward to turn away from sin. This is the act of repentance.  God will meet you where you are.

If you are in the midst of sin; treat your vessel (body) wrong using substances that alter your mind, emotions, and behavior, you are in sexual immorality, corruption, or any combination of these or other forms of sin. Don’t put it off, as we are not promised tomorrow.

Come as you are. Listen, you weren’t feeling ashamed or embarrassed while you werecommitting the act, don’t allow those hindering spirits to stop you now.

Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

Matthew 7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Whatever the sin, you and God have always been present during those times. It is you and him now, alone together as you read this. He stands with open arms.

John 7:3 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.                                John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
